Change in the winds
Thursday, April 19, 2007
Well, the wiki is only partly working, but it is readable. I tried to edit an article the other day and it failed. Not sure what's up.

Also, I'm looking into replacing the forums with Simple Machine Forums and either getting some kind of portal up or removing this news page entirely. All in due time.

Post in the forums!

Yeah, we know, things aren't working right
Tuesday, October 31, 2006
OK, here's the deal. The forums don't work with MySQL5 and the queries need to be re-written. I'll get to it before the weekend I hope.

Also, the wiki isn't working. Why? I wish I knew. The plan for now is to install a new version and copy the old data over by hand. We'll see how that works I guess.

Lastly, the sessions around here seem to be a contant problem. The dreamhost servers seem to be acting really slow, so it's possible that it's just something that will pass. Here's to hoping.

At least the Legend of the Green Dragon still works (I think).

Sorry guys, but we'll be down for at least a day or two......

Authentication For Stats
Monday, April 17, 2006
It seems we were getting hit pretty heavily with 'referrer spam' as of late. Basically, sites forge the referral site and put in all kinds of requests for your site so that their site will show up in your stats as though they were referring people to your site.

Anyway, the stats section has been password protected now to help prevent search engines from finding these stats. This should deter people from putting all this referral spam on us. If not, other measures will be need to be taken and there is a chance the stats page will be no more (or at least not public).

Legend Of The Red, Er, Green Dragon
Monday, February 20, 2006
So, since we have been dragging our feet with the blog and other various projects (most of which evolve around the forums), we have something to give you in return for your patience.

If you played Legend of the Red Dragon back in the day, you'll know what thuis is all about. If you haven't check it out anyway, it's pretty fun.

New Stats Via Webalizer
Friday, January 20, 2006
Well, the BBClone stats are nice, but they you to embed a link in your pages for it to work. This is fine, except now that we have the forums, I rather not hack that in in the event BBClone gets replaced.

So, I installed webalizer. Now we have universal stats from the time the site went live. Yeah buddy! Check the webalizer stats and see what kind of traffic we're drawing. w00t!

Forums Are Established, Blog Comming Soon
Thursday, January 19, 2006
Well, we're up to 32 members registered in the forums. Not bad for less than a week of existence! There's a handful of regulars posting there now and we'd like to see more. So, head on over, register, and start raking up your post count.

We've also had some interest in putting in a community blog section to compliment the forums. While we'd like to write our own blog system from scratch, I might end up just installing a pre-made package. I still haven't made up my mind. Time is the biggest concern, but this weekend is looking pretty open at the moment, so it may happen.

I'm also toying with the idea of putting in a really simple photo album for users to mess around with, but there hasn't been a lot of interest in that. I think it could be interesting, but we need to find a new way to do it.

If there's anything else you'd like to see on schoolinsummertime.com, please head over to the forums and let us know. In the mean time, sign up if you haven't already.

Forums Modifications
Saturday, January 14, 2006
So, I spent most of today modding the forums. I added an RSS Feed generator, a Quick Reply prompt and a nice tool for us admins to configure the forums as we need.

I think the next step if going to be changing the look of the forums slightly, but who knows. I'm still hunting for new mods to add, so if you have any suggestions, post in the forums.

Forums Off To A Good Start
Saturday, January 14, 2006
We now have 10 registered members on the forums, which means 8 of our friends have actually signed up. Only a few have posted, but hey, that's not bad for the first day of launch.

Hopefully we'll see the forums explode into insanity, much like our forums have in the past. Time will tell I guess. If you haven't checked them out, head on over, register, and start posting.

We actually did something to the page!
Friday, January 13, 2006
Well, after having this domain sit idle for so long, I decided it was time for a forum. Aaron agreed, so we went with it. I also put in this little news script for whatever use. Now we just need mod up the forums and hopefully integrate Aaron's chat script.

In the meantime, enjoy the forums.
